Commercial waste collection: FAQs

Commercial waste covers most types of rubbish a business produces on its premises. This can be anything from general waste – such as non-recyclable plastics, metals, and food packaging – to specific waste types like food and glass waste.

Whether you run an office, school, restaurant, entertainment, or any other type of business, most waste you produce will be classed as commercial.

A duty of care certificate or waste transfer note is a legal document required by businesses that produce waste. It covers the business and the owner under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and serves as proof that the business or owner disposes of their waste legally and responsibly.

A duty of care certificate is valid for a period of one year and must be retained by the owner or business for a period of two years after expiry. You can find a duty of care form online but one is included with our commercial waste management.

Normally we can arrange to collect your bins daily, weekly, or fortnightly. If your business generates lots of commercial waste (or very little), we can change the frequency to suit your needs. We also offer a range of different bin sizes relevant to the amount and type of waste you have.

Commercial waste collection costs vary depending on your needs. Factors that affect the price include:

• Your postcode
• The type of commercial waste
• Size of waste bins
• How many bins you need
• Frequency of collection

You can check the commercial waste collection costs for your business when you apply for a quote online.

We offer waste bins in three different sizes:

• 240 litres
• 660 litres
• 1,100 litres

These different sized bins are sufficient for most types of businesses and organisations. The right size option can depend on the type of waste you’re getting rid of. You can also arrange for multiple bins of the same or different sizes for removal of many waste types at the same time.

Our commercial waste removal services cover anywhere in the UK. We work with commercial waste disposal sites across the country. Whether you’re based in a city centre or out in the sticks, we can find a solution to help you get rid of your waste in a green and easy way.

Sending waste to landfill costs your business money. Creating a waste policy that aims to recycle as much as possible is one of the main ways to try and reduce the waste your company produces. Having different waste bins for each type of rubbish increases recycling and lowers charges for general waste collection.
